How one call works, and who picks up
Find out what the code or symptom means, try the safe checks, and call when it needs a technician. One number connects you with an independent repair company near you.
Call and describe it
Say the brand, the appliance and what it's doing. Read off any code on the display. Give your ZIP code so a company that covers your address picks up.
A repair company answers
An independent company that works in your area takes the call. They'll tell you when they can come and what their diagnostic and repair rates are.
You book with them
You schedule directly with that company. They come to you, do the work, and bill you. We stay out of it.
Repair it or replace it?
The rule most technicians use: if the repair would cost more than half of a comparable new unit and the appliance is past two-thirds of its typical life, replace it. A good repair company will say so on the phone.
Placement changes the math. A washer in a hot garage or a fridge in an unheated porch wears out years ahead of the same model in a kitchen, so tell the company where it sits.
Hatched span is the upper end you shouldn't count on for a unit in a garage or other unconditioned space. Ranges are the manufacturer figures technicians work from, not a promise about your unit.
Guides by brand
Brand names identify the appliance you own and do not imply any affiliation with the manufacturer.
